Guest
Hi we are currently reviewing our daily routines to minimise times when children have to be sat still. Does anyone have any ideas of what works well we are a preschool in one room with a mix of 2 to 4 year olds. Thanks in anticipation.
Guest
Hi, we run our sessions on a 'free-flow' system so really there is not anytime the children will sit down for long periods of time. Here is a quick timetable for you.....hope it helps! 9.00 self-registration 9 - 10 indoor play with children accessing resources independently 10 - 11.20 outside play/indoor play (again accessing resources independtly and can go in/out when they want) 10.30 snack bar opens 11.30 hometime During the session adults offer stories/singing/dancing/circle games/ etc etc and led by the childrens interest. This is repeated for the afternoon session. Hope this makes sense!!!
AnonyMouse_11414
I run a similar Preschool with 2 - 4 years and we only do a sit down register time inc. weather ,date, birthdays topic of the day this is usually 10-15 mins and then its free play unitl circle time before snack again 10-15 mins maximum. We also take older children into groups to do more structured activities. we have found that the 2 year olds actually sit better than some of our 4yr olds!!!!! AnonyMouse_64
Hi, My playgroup was just about all free play with a snack bar running during the middle of the session. Occasionally there would be more structured activities such as baking or making cards/presents which we tried to ensure every child accessed at some point. The only time the children were required to sit down as a group was for about 15mins at the end of the session for storytime/singing etc.
AnonyMouse_8623
Our playgroup runs almost exactly like yours Beau. Our snack bar is set up about half an hour into the session or before, if anyone asks for it, and stays out until the end. Our children are aged 3/4.
