AnonyMouse_8466
According to today's Nursery World, Ofsted inspectors in early years and social care may be going on strike, given that their pay talks have broken down. Now this led me to wonder. You can see parents being up in arms and protesting when teachers go on strike, thus adding pressure for the employers to settle... But Ofsted? Strikes may take place in May, after the ballot which takes place next week. Maz
AnonyMouse_11949
I wonder how long it would be before anyone would actually miss them. . .
AnonyMouse_79
Perhaps we should encourage them then!
AnonyMouse_6361
No doubt that inspections will be disrupted then if it goes ahead. Might just give me a few more weeks to get ready for inspection, they are due in July but could be earlier due to new manager etc. Beth
AnonyMouse_4544
I read somewhere that it costs around £10 000 per primary school for an OFSTED inspection and the total cost for inspecting schools in 2005 was wait for it £60 MILLION! That's without private settings and Children's Centres... I've been told that a more cost effective method is being considered.

AnonyMouse_7317
I feel they deserve to be paid at least £2000 per hour of work and feel they should really strike until they are offered this amount I would whole heartedly support the strike!!!! AnonyMouse_705
I'd just like to say what lovely people they are, what a fantastic job they do, can't believe they earn so little and they really should go on strike...... if that's not worth any outstanding inspection result I don't know what is!! Nah!! In the words of Clint Eastwood 'Go ahead....Ofsted.....make my day!
Guest
Oh how I like this topic!! If they go on strike I hope they have as much "staying power" as the miners did - meanwhile, the powers that be could introduce EYFS the Sequel............. AnonyMouse_705
Our Ofsted members are loyal public sector workers, not hard-liners prone to strike. However, they are disappointed and very angry at employers who are constantly demanding more work for less pay." Welcome to the club Ofsted!!! AnonyMouse_3139
From Unison... "Ofsted have been left with no choice but to strike. After a winter of making difficult choices between paying the gas or electricity bill, they have been offered a miserly pay deal. What's more, they have also had a divisive new structure imposed upon them." I too, have had to look closely at which bills to pay. I havent had a pay increase for 3 years (and no likihood of one either). All EY workers have had a new structure imposed on them in the form of EYFS and by the very fact that every inspector holds a different view on things. OK everyone, thats it, everybody out!
