Helen
Hi Lucylu, First of all, congratulations on making it to the interview! They obviously know you as you are working there already, so think of that as a very positive step towards getting the job So, what are they likely to want to know about you that they don't know already? My guesses are: 1) How will you manage to be in charge of other members of staff who may have previously worked with you at a similar level? Can you envisage any problems and how will you deal with them? 2) What observations/planning have you been involved in before, and how will that differ in the new job? 3) Is the age group 2-3, or beyond 3? I mean, are you only concerned with Birth to Three Matters, or are you going to need to cover the FS curriculum too? 4)I'd prepare something to say along the lines of how you would like to develop your professional skills, eg what courses (curriculum or management) you would like to attend in the next year or so. This shows that you are keen to extend your learning and that you are dedicated to being the best practitioner you can be. 5) Most of all, smile Try and get across your enthusiasm for the job. Tell them what you love about working with young children, being specific, ie giving examples. Good luck, and let us know how you get on. I'm now responsible for all the 2,3 and 4 yr olds, from those fresh out of the toddler group to the ones leaving for school in september. Very excited and a little nervous! The interview went pretty well, i was extremely nervous but when i was told they i was successful, i was also told that my interview and application were excellent and that they hadn't a doubt in their minds about who to appoint!!
