AnonyMouse_7836 Posted May 1, 2008 Posted May 1, 2008 I'm currently doing a research project into how gun play has changed over the years and whether it should be allowed in the pre school environment. If anyone has got any opinions or views on this I would really appreciate the input. Many Thanks Jane Quote
Guest Posted May 1, 2008 Posted May 1, 2008 There was an article in nursery world not long ago about it. If you don't have nursery world I can e-mail it to you let me know. Quote

Thanx ElaineG but I've already got the said article, I'm collecting anything I can to broaden my research. Jane Quote
Guest Posted May 1, 2008 Posted May 1, 2008 I know how you feel I finished my Foundation Degree last year. Good luck. Quote
Guest Posted May 1, 2008 Posted May 1, 2008 Have you searched the forum for threads about this subject as I remember that a few months ago there was quite a good discussion about the subject. We used to have quite a few children who liked making guns out of sticklebricks last year and as long as they didn't annoy or upset anybody with them then that was fine. This year however I don't think the children have even mentioned guns!! Its funny isn't it how different they can all be. This year they like wearing builders hats and ballet/tap shoes!!! Quote
AnonyMouse_64 Posted May 2, 2008 Posted May 2, 2008 As Shelley has said this comes up periodically and there are already quite a few threads with very interesting points of view etc. You can find them here. I'm sure there are still plenty of people with more to say on the topic though. Quote
AnonyMouse_10243 Posted May 4, 2008 Posted May 4, 2008 Hi, Do you have an Athens password, if so you can access lots of research into gun play. I did Superhero for my research and used 'we don't play with guns here' as a starting point. There's lots of links in the reference section but if you are stuck I'll dig out my references. I found Glen Cupit very practical (Socialising the superheroes). It's a really interesting topic and I kept finding new perspectives and yes we do allow gun play now and find it extends very quickly into all ssorts of creative pursuits with positive staff interaction. This is my first post so hello everyone! Ann Magana Quote
