Guest Posted May 10, 2008 Posted May 10, 2008 follow this link to the Book Ahead site : www.bookahead.org.uk From the brochure someone has just given me it appears that our Local Authorities will be distributing the Book Ahead lists to all settings shortly. Other interesting bits are: 'Underpinning this is an allocation of £4.5 million of funding from the DCSF to provide books for 0-7 age group t oall local authorities in England in 2008 and to support the delivery of the programme. Each authority via the Schools Library Service, will initially have 200 copies of the booklist to distribute around Early Years settings.... They will be able to select free books from this list to be used in a variety of ways - from loaning out 'Treasure Chests' containing Book Ahead collections to holding workshops on using the books with Early Years children.' For more info contact your local library service! Sounds great, anyone else know more about this?
