AnonyMouse_2127
We have a Fun Morning on the last day of term. Parents, relatives, etc invited to come. We have childrens races, fancy dress, various stalls - a very good fund raiser. The children run about 4 different races, just running, balancing bean bag on the head, and 'egg' and spoon race. I usually think up a fairly easy 'novelty' race, but after many years we have run out of new ideas. We could re do something but I am hanging on until something really wonderful hits us!! We have done collecting the shopping, planting flowers, building walls, collecting things for the beach, jumping into hoops, obstacle course, etc, ect. ANY IDEAS PLEASE??? Guest
Do you want to include water???! If you are game, then a bucket of water and a cup one end and an empty container with a little drop of food colouring in the bottom the other. The children carry a cup of water to the other end of the course and pour it into a container, the food colouring helps to see how much is in there for measuring. Put it in final container to stop the chance of spilling the water with food colouring on the children as they run and staining their clothes. Or have some fish/ducks/boats in a pool one end of course and the children have to run pick up fishing line and hook the object out and take it back to other end. Have fun Ali
AnonyMouse_1999
Maybe too similar to collecting shopping but ours love packing a suitcase! lay out items to be packed with open case at the end. Children (hopefully!) run, pick up the first item and run to put it in the case, go back and get next item and put in case and so on. Adjustable in terms of number of items according to age/ability. The winner (thats starts a whole new debate on competitive sport ) is the one who has all items in the case, case closed and holding it ready to go on holiday. AnonyMouse_2732
Dressing race? Different items of clothing at each end, building up ridiculous (or not!) layers? Sue
AnonyMouse_79
I fancy the water race, you could have teams, like a relay, for that one which can be hard work with littlies but always fun!
Guest
Why not try some ring games for a change. Parents can join in, we do this as part of a coffee morning and our parents love it. We sing all the old favourites and some modern ones as well.

Guest
hi ya, at my school we are doing a fun game for sports day. it invloves the children having a peg each (the colour of their team) and a sock , in teams they take it in turn to run to the washing line and peg thier sock on the line. found it really good for pincer grip and eye hand control. hope this helps, it works well with my liltle ones
Guest
We tried a space hopper race for the first time this year and the children and parents loved it ! I was a bit worried we might not be able to borrow enough space hoppers...but that was not a problem ! There are loads of wild and whacky American websites that specialise in Space hopper races which were fun to look at for ideas and piccies to print out. We found out you can get really mini space hoppers to fit any size person !....and the 'Mums' and 'Dads' had a go too...hilarious ! Enjoy your day Galleon
