Animals/birds Topic - Ideas As Ofsted Looms

Our topic is animals and we have a week more focussed on birds when Oftsed come in. Have got role play as a pet shop. Any other ideas that anyone can share for activities etc to make the lessons really whizzy. Ta.

This half term our topic is also animals, last week we made our role play area into a safari, with a look out hut, and a camp with a camouflage tent to rest in or draw pictures or make notes of the animals seen from the lookout hut. We also made binoculars and went on a safari toddler around the school grounds looking for animals that had been hidden in the trees and bushes. We played a memory game when the children had chosen and talked about their favourite jungle animal. Next week we are going to visit a wildlife park and get a chance to feel and touch some of the animals. We will read the story of Dear Zoo and them make our own Dear zoo book using the photos form the trip. I don't know if any of these ideas will be helpful but good luck with ofsted

We have had a "bird hide" which the children created with a large bit of camoflage material, then they took binoculars/bird charts and books/note pads/pencils into it while they were bird watching. Apparently an eagle flew across the playground!

You could make binoculars with junk modelling/loo roll tubes.
