AnonyMouse_2846 Posted June 17, 2008 Posted June 17, 2008 Hi i am struggling to get going with my last assignment of the year!! My 3rd in a week and im brain dead. It is about multi agency working - now i can find plenty about childrens centres and why we have to have it etc but can you please answer me this? For those of you who do not have access to a children's centre how do you work in an integrated way? How has YOUR role changed? We have contact via our EY pedagogue and area SENCO to other agencies. We are on school grounds altho seperate and they have been contacted by our new CC with contact numbers for parents etc but we havent! I wouldnt even know its there but I pass it sometimes. This assignemnt is just not floating my boat!! Or am i just tired Thank you in advance I just need some inspiration I think Andrea
Guest Posted June 17, 2008 Posted June 17, 2008 The way I understand it Andrea is that we have to be able to communicate and co-operate with any other setting, or child minder, or specialist, have a good relationship with local Health Visitor, Early Years Advisor and any other professionals which we may have to deal with at any time. Basically we have to be a mini childrens centre without actually being one (???!!!), being able to inform people where to find out information, what other people can help them etc.
Guest Posted June 17, 2008 Posted June 17, 2008 Hi - Shelley has really answered this well - we have had many children come through our doors, some looked after, some with child protection issues, and some who have portage or other specialists involved - Like Shelley says, it is our role to investigate, research all those professionals around us who could add to the benefit of the child. Supporting parents as well in all the sizes they come and understanding which charitable support groups are available they can call on. I expect someone will come along with even more information - good luck with your assignment Dot
Guest Posted June 17, 2008 Posted June 17, 2008 Hi Andreamay, yes you are tired, you're thoughts aren't coming easily to you, the assigment doesn't motivate that last bit of strength and energy, oh how many of us know how you feel. lots of empathy......but.......there IS LIGHT at the end of the tunnel.....Shelley35 has reminded you of what you know you know but couldn't drag out of your tired addled brain. also what's struck me is your comment "We are on school grounds altho seperate and they have been contacted by our new CC with contact numbers for parents etc but we havent! I wouldnt even know its there but I pass it sometimes" This is the alternative perspective to good multi agency working. You feel left out and isolated ( please ignore me if this assumption is wrong ) As Shelley says multi agency is about your knowledge of other agencies to pass on to parents, your practical work with other professionals who work alongside you to to provide the ECM outcomes plus more. Also if you have enough word count allowance a mention of all the agencies that support childrens leasure (well being) as well as academic / health outcomes. maybe some extra browny points there. (for example, Brownies, Scouts, library, dance classes, music, arts, sports, childrens fun days/events etc) Good luck, nearly there, the 'forum is with you' Peggy
AnonyMouse_2846 Posted June 18, 2008 Author Posted June 18, 2008 oh Peggy thank you so much, Have i ever told you i love you?!! Im sure I have! Yes others comments have reminded me and yes I am tired. I have a block! And yes you are right I do feel left out and yes that will also be a good counter argument that they need to be certain they are including all. I think i might call in or am I better ringing? is it a drop in centre? And asking for info etc Anyway will have to keep busy busy Andrea

The centre should be a good source of info re: all things multi agency, but is your assignment generic or just about you and your setting? Hope you had a good nights sleep, but don't forget pen and pad next to the bed because no doubt at 3am ish you will, in your restless, can't switch off brain state, compose the best ever introductory / closing statement for your work, only to forget it come morning, (if it's not written down.) Peggy
AnonyMouse_8623 Posted June 18, 2008 Posted June 18, 2008 Good luck with the assignment Andrea. As always, some excellent advice and encouragement from caring and supportive people. It never ceases to amaze me how fantastic the people are on this forum.
AnonyMouse_2846 Posted June 18, 2008 Author Posted June 18, 2008 thank you everyone I will have another go tonight And yes everyone is fantastic its the first place I came Peggy - It is a bit of both first half about how our roles and responsibilites have changed and second half multi agency working in general. I didnt sleep to bad but when i say im tired I mean my brain is!!! This degree takes up every SPARE moment I have and I just cant give anymore at mo!! But i know im not on my own - all those on here and on my course are in the same boat so I will soldier on
