Hello And Goodbye Songs

Guest

Recommended Posts

Well, we don't have a hello song, but sing the days of the week song. We do have a Goodbye song which starts 'Goodbye work, goodbye play' and I'm not keen on it, so would like a new one to start in September.

Please can you tell me some good songs and the tune too!

Thanks!!!

we have a song that goes :

the clock say's tick tock

the clock says tick tock

the clock says tick tock

it's time to say goodbye

then using a toy microphone we go around the group saying

goodbye Emily & she says goodbye into the microphone,

goodbye etc etc. untill you have said goodbye to the whole group.

it's a very good way to get a child who is very quiet most of the session to find a voice to say goodbye!!!!

i can't think of a tune to compare it to but all of my staff have learn't it and the tune seems to vary slightly according to who is singing it in other words it can be made up!!

In the past I worked somewhere where the children sat round in a circle and you sang Goodbye followed by their name going through each of the children in turn and finishing with "goodbye to all of us".

I think it came from a girl guide type song!! I'm no good at writing music so I can't really do the tune but you start of on a mid-range note for good - drop down for bye and then down and up again for the childs name. This means you have 2 notes for names with one syllable.

Another way is to do it by clapping the syllables - this will fit in with the letters and sounds! - and its a good way for the children to learn everyones name.

Hope this makes sense!!!! :o

We also sing the 'please and thank you' song - to tune of Frere Jacques.

Please and thank you,

Please and thank you,

We must say,

We must say.

When we ask for something,

When we ask for something,

Every day,

Every day!

Great thanks to Lynn for introducing that one.

I'm also trying out a new one to tune of 'we're following the leader, the leader , the leader' from Peter Pan - but we say it's one behind the other, the other, the other - repeat then ' and now we're in a line!' to help children get the concept of lining up in preparation for school. Anyone got any others?

Don't have a hello song but our going home song is-

It's nearly time for us to go home now,

We've worked hard and tidied away,

Don't forget your book bag and your lunch box

and go safely on your way.

Have you all been kind to one another?

Always friendly, ready to play

looking out for those who are lonely

making it a happy day.

I have no idea what tune it is sung to I'm afraid!

Our is sung to the Andy Pandy theme tune, to those of you old enough to know it!!

Time to go home, time to go home

Pre-School has ended it's time to go home

We've had a good play and packed things away

Pre-School has ended today, today.

Hello song to the 'nice one Cyril' tune

Hello Cynthia, hello Jane, hello Peter

It's good to see you here

Until all the children's names have been said.

If you don't have multiples of 3 attending ie 12, 15, etc

we add staff names or hello everyone instead.

We sing 'Goodbye Jane, see you soon.

Goodbye Peter, see you soon.

Goodbye Susie, see you soon.

At another session.

Keep going until you have included all the children and staff if you need to make . multiples of three. the last two lines are:- Goodbye everybody see you soon , at another session.

I am humming the tune as I write but blowed if I know what it's name is. Don't suppose anyone is picking it up telepathically? No I didn't think so. Will ask the girls tomorrow.

We also have the hello song to 'nice one cyril'

Hello ???????? Hello ??????? Hello ??????? ???????? say hello. (child says hello).

Friendship song: (can't think of tune - sorry)

All hold hands together in a circle and sing:

Will you be my friend and hold my hand

Will you be my friend and hold my hand

Will you be my friend and hold my hand

Thank you very much.

The children then love to sing it again faster. End by saying thank you for being friends you may all now find something to play with.

We used to sing the Barney song, words slighty adapted, sang at hello time and other times during the session (often solo as the children played :o )

I love you

You love me

We're the PRESCHOOL family

with a great big hug

and a kiss from me to you

Won't you say you love me too

I love you

You love me

We're best friends like friends should be

with a great big hug

and a kiss from me to you

Won't you be my best friend too.

Are we all best friends? YEEEH !

Peggy

Our school has a number of different ones but our class use this to say good morning.

Hello to X, hello to X, how do you do?

Why don't you turn around and shake hands with Y who is sitting next to you?

They then shake hands with the person next to them and say/sign/vocalise 'Hello everyone'.

The other good morning songs we've used in school include:

Hello X, how are you? Hello X, how are you? Hello X, how are you? How are you today? (tune a bit like skip to my Lou)

The usual response we taught the kids to say/sign was 'Very well, thank you, ok.

We sing and sign a good bye song to the Andy Pandy tune.

'Time to go home, time to go home.

School is now ending it's time to go home.

Good bye to you

Good bye to you

Good bye to everyone

Good bye!

The other songs in school include:

'Good bye everyone, good bye everyone, good bye everyone, it's time for us to go' (nursery use this one)

It's time to say goodbye, it's time to say goodbye, it's time to say goodbye to X (either each person in turn or everyone if in a hurry or lots of people) So long, farewell, it's time to say goodbye to X.
