Guest
Hi all In our reception class we used to do pips baseline assessment. However now we carry out a simple assessment we have made ourselves and lenghty observations within the forst few weeks. Doing this has given us so much more information about our children which has been more useful. However our problem was we were left with nothing on paper to say on entry children were here, they have made this much progress and now here. I was speaking to someone at a meeting recenlty and they mentioned that had a grid with area of EYFS on with the age in months across the top and that through their observations they plotted on which stage children were at in each area and they carried this on through outt he year. Does anyone else use a similar kind of thing?
AnonyMouse_2157
Do you not use the Eprofile data Lola? The charts can give you all the progress data you will need to show the value added. If you record on entry (or even summer B from the previous year if you have a nursery) and update profile each half term, then you can see the progress that the children have made over the entire year. It's really something when you print out the Progress in Components graph at the end of the year showing on entry and end of FSP to see instantly what they have achieved Hope this is what you mean
AnonyMouse_3307
I'd use EYFSP scales in reception - so much easier.

AnonyMouse_7227
I just use eprofile to do baseline assessmnts and then we do boxhall profiles and then the reading tests.
