AnonyMouse_832
We had a big dicussion today about possibly changing our nursery room layouts so that they were not under the six areas of learning but organised in a different way. We want to look at the resources so that they provide an environment that promotes sustained thinking and provokes children's learning. I know some places that have studio/workshop/discovery learning bays etc. How do you organise your nursery class/school settings? what areas have you got? We are looking for some good ideas that people have tried and they know has worked for them.

AnonyMouse_832
That seems like an awful lot of areas! we want to try to reduce the amount of areas if possible. Is it working for you? We feel we have too much stuff out for children that is not open ended enough. We also want to make it easier (if its possible?) at tidy up time. AnonyMouse_4544
We've worked that way for four years without any problems and tidy up time is fine as long as children are allocated areas to take responsibility for tidying.
AnonyMouse_10713
Our areas are almost identical to Marion's. We also have a painting easel, but no large mark making area (although they could be the same thing?? )
