When Do You Take Children?

Recommended Posts

Hi all

Just wondered when do pre-schools take on new children?

Do you do it straight away (if room?)

At the start of each term or half term?

Thanks

Hi - generally fill up in September from those who have left for school, though we operate a waiting list and fit children in as soon as a place is available - we can't afford to have empty places - Dot

As we only have 3 years and over.. we take them after 3rd birthday any time.. if parents want to pay.. many of ours cannot afford that so tendency is to start term after 3rd birthday.. but turn up mid term they are funded they can start.. if we have room.. It is unusual for us not to have a space.. last year was the first we had to say sorry full... ( 2 sessions a day.. now can stay all day but most only still want 5 sessions in different formulas... parents cannot afford more)

We take them in 2 ways for 2 years old:

just after they turn 2 years if space

or

at the start of each half term.

Example there was a couple of children who turned 2 in the last couple of weeks, well of course they started just after they had turned 2 years old. Where has the other children had to wait for the school leavers to go before starting as there was no space in April to July.

However if there are limited spaces it goes on the childs Date of Birth so 2 years old children will have to wait for a space.

We fill up at the start of each term (Jan and Sept) due to school leavers. We are lucky enough to never have extra spaces throughtout the term!

We take children from 2.5yrs old upwards.

Hello!

We take children in at the start of the term after they are 3.

Rarely are we totally full in September, but on occasion we haven't had many places to offer at Easter time!

In the private bit of the nursery I can take children as soon as they are three if parents want to pay until funding kicks in at the start of the term after they are three!
