Guest
Hi just a quick question to a kind and helpful person out there. We want to make some biscuits next week but can only find recipes with raw egg. Is it ok to use raw egg with the children as long as they do not eat the raw mixture (some hope!) and we cook the biscuits thoroughly? Failing that - does anyone have a recipe for short bread or biscuits that don't need egg but also that don't fall apart? Thank you.
AnonyMouse_7317
we cook with eggs and as you say if the children do not eat the mixture it should be fine. Below is a link to the food standards agency guidance on eggs Eggs
Guest Wolfie
I'm sure it's fine - I've always used egg in biscuit recipes!
AnonyMouse_1999
we also cook with eggs but have a really simple biscuit recipe that doesn't need eggs. The children love it and yummy biscuits every time! 4 oz (100g) soft butter or marg 2 oz (50g) castor sugar 5 oz (150g) self raising flour Pre heat oven to 180 C and lightly grease two baking trays Beat marg and gradually beat in sugar. Mix in the flour Bring mixture together with your hands to form a dough Form dough into balls about the size of a walnut and place well apart on the baking trays. Dip a fork in a little water and use this to flatten the biscuits. Bake for 15-20 mins until pale golden, leave to cool. The above ingredients makes about 16 biscuits
AnonyMouse_3735
we too cook with eggs.. if it is an uncooked recipe you can buy dried egg white which has been pasteurised, so we use this occasionally.. Inge
Guest
Thanks everyone - that's great and thank you for the recipe too - will definitely be trying that. You are all so helpful. I LOVE THIS FORUM - trouble is I find so many interesting things to look at which are all so helpful and before I know it I'm all behind with everything!
