Guest
I wonder if any of you lovely people can help me? I am trying to write my CV! I havent had one in many years as usually an application form is all that is required. Can anyone give any hints or tips? At the moment I am using a template from microsoft and it lists 'Objectives'?? What is supposed to go in there? (SORRY BEING REALLY THICK HERE!!) Qualifications - that would be Level 3, Level 4 etc, then it goes on to Education - (GCSE's etc) But where would the short courses I have attended ie First Aid, CP etc etc Thanks you jx
AnonyMouse_3139
Hi Jenni, difficult arent they? I had advice from someone on here. If you like I can send you a copy of mine to give you the gist.
AnonyMouse_64
I haven't had to update my CV for quite a few years. However, mine had the following headings Address Personal details (DOB/Marital Status) Summary (the bit where you tell them why you are absolutely perfect for the job) Work Experience (Most recent first) Training (Most recent first) Qualifications (Most recent first) Education References Interests and Activities Other relevant information
AnonyMouse_705
Mine has a summary at the beginning which sums you up in a nutshell - it has to be fairly concise and will make the employer want to interview you - so sell yourself - no problem! Add a section for training, using the same heading as the education, qualification etc. I've always understood CV's should not be too long or too wordy. Mine has two pages. By the way, you no longer need to put your marital status or DOB on your CV, age discrimination and all that! Good luck!

AnonyMouse_3735
Jenni, If using latest version of word I believe there is an option to save as an earlier version , making it accessible to those of us who do not have it... (Steve is better at explaining it than I am).. cannot help any more on how to do it.. using an old old version! Inge

I wander whether in the name of future developement you have thought about where you want to be in the future for instance i personally am working towards Early years practitioner status just an idea Matkat
Guest
Good point matkat! Thank you! Perhaps I could alter that part depending on where I am sending the CV? As I am really unsure where and what I want to do at the moment!!! jx
AnonyMouse_73
Hi Jenni I opened it fine. I would add a section on employment history and include any gaps in your employment. I would also include a sentence about what each role entailed. Your profile bit/or summary is more about you as a perosn and why you fir the paticliar job so may need adapting each time you apply.
