Guest
My colleague Elaine is very good with making up songs to tunes we know........... Last week we started singing (to the tune of London bridge is falling down) Autumn leaves are falling down, falling down, falling down. Autumn leaves are falling down From the trees. Conkers falling from the trees, from the trees, from the trees Conkers falling from the trees Because its autumn Pine cones falling from the trees.................. etc Hedgehog hiding safe and snug, safe and snug, safe and snug Hedgehog hiding safe and snug because its Autumn. Well it was something like that anyway!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The children caught on to it very quickly and they added acorns to the list falling from the trees....... On Friday a couple of children were singing it at the autumn trough! Lovely.

The first verse was something like Leaves on the trees are turning yellow red and gold Smoke from the bonfire burning .... er that's where I get stuck!! Anybody know it? AnonyMouse_8457
and... (I think the tune is One finger one thumb keep moving) A hedgehog's very prickly, a hedgehog's very prickly A hedgehog's very prickly, it couldn't be anything else You can add anything you like - we used to ask the children for suggestions and go with them.... this resulted in interesting actions and noises! Once we had a giraffe and you had to stretch your neck and grunt!! A giraffe is very 'uh'y etc - quite amusing!
AnonyMouse_3735
The Leaves on the trees The leaves on the tree turn orange and brown, orange and brown, orange and brown. The leaves on the trees turn orange and brown, All through the town. The leaves on the trees come swirling down, swirling down, swirling down. The leaves on the trees come swirling down. All through the town. The leaves on the ground go swish, swish, swish, Swish, swish, swish. The leaves on the ground go swish, swish, swish, All through the town. (Sung to: "The Wheels on the Bus") Or there is this one Autumn song and just found this site Autumn Winds Songs on other things here too.... AnonyMouse_6878
I remember a song from my primary school - not sure if there were more verses. There is a tune, but not one from another song so be creative and see what fits! The river sang softly to the leaves on the tree: "I am going to take you on a journey with me." Then the leaves fell down gently on that quiet autumn day, And floated with the river far, far, far away.
AnonyMouse_2846
our children absolutly love 5 Little leaves so bright and gay Were dancing around on a tree one day The wind came howling through the town ooooooo oooooooo And 1 little leaf came tumbling down Etc Etc holding fingers up and dancing with them and howling with hands to mouth We say it and the children like to take it turns to be the leaf they hold high and drop when it is there turn or pretend to be the leaf themselves and tumble to the ground. AnonyMouse_13453
we've sung lots of songs in the past to the tune of 'Pizza Hut', I'm sure you could make something up - with hilarious actions to this! How about something along the lines of Some falling leaves, some falling leaves There's shiny conkers and some falling leaves Some falling leaves, some falling leaves There's shiny conkers and some falling leaves The bonfires, the bonfires There's shiny conkers and some falling leaves The bonfires, the bonfires There's shiny conkers and some falling leaves
Guest
Go to the cbeebies website. Down the left handside it says 'presenters' go there and in there go to 'songs' Scroll down and you will find a lovely song about 'the colours of autumn'. You will also find a great song at the bottom that is called 'You know it's Autumn'. There is one other which my kids absolutely love. You need to go to the main cbeebies page and click on 'all cbeebies characters' When in there go to Autumn watch and click on the theme song. These are great songs my kids request them every day. Guest
I found a great hedghog number rhyme on amazon that my class have really enjoyed, great for 'playing and exploring' and 'critical thinking'. I used it as stimulus for maths circle time inititally and then added it to number area, led to lots of problem solving. I now need another one! http://www.amazon.co...49503941&sr=8-
