Sandpit Cover

Recommended Posts

Hope someone can help !

We have a big hexagonal sandpit on the ground outdoors - children love it and we have some fab sit on excavators which have gone down beautifully.

It has a green hessian type cover with a drawstring to secure it with - unfortunately the cover is now ripped ( rip getting bigger daily ) and due to H and S issues we need to try to cover it securely as we haven't been able to have the children play with it since this happened .

Wondered has anyone else has this prob and has anyone a good solution ? - thanks in anticipation - Lizzy

Ours is hexagonal we put small screws in around the edge and then hooked on a bit piece of tarpaulin over the top. We also got one of those stretchy net things from halfords like you would put over your roof rack and hooked that on too - for the winter it gets an exra tarp put over it. We found the hessian one to be no good everytime it rained it just fell in!

Can anyone tell me the current legislation on covering outdoor sandpits - we have and it's not covered but we thoroughly check it each day for animal faeces etc. Our early years advisory teacher said that she didn't know what the legislation states. I know it would be better if it wa scovered but it's huge and it would be a huge job
