Guest Wolfie
At a staff training day on Friday, I have been given the unenviable task of running a short session designed to refresh the staff's working knowledge of our policies and procedures. Even worse, I've been given the "graveyard" slot, straight after lunch. I'm thinking that I need to make it light-hearted and snappy really and have decided that maybe I should do some kind of team quiz with spot prizes, giving them 15 minutes or so to "revise" beforehand. Has anyone done this sort of thing before with their staff...or has anyone got any better ideas for the session?? AnonyMouse_8466
Sounds like a fab idea to me - will the staff enter into the spirit of it do you think? What have you got in mind for the spot prizes?? Maz
Guest
Sounds good to me, Wolfie and I think chocolate as spot prizes would do the trick - a little sugar rush might perk them up, too Nona
AnonyMouse_8282
could just cut up the polices (sentence wise!) and get staff to put them under correct headings. You've got me thinking about fun things to do.. xxxxx

AnonyMouse_13453
How about putting policies into the operational plan divisions (5 areas)?

Guest
Great idea, this will work really well to highlight specific changes following the start of the EYFS. They could also have a look during their lunch, making use of this time too. (or is that mean of me) Peggy

AnonyMouse_1195
That sounds really good as sorting out the sentences will really get them thinking and talking, and keep them awake.
Guest
Hi Wolfie We recently did a staff quiz based on policies and other aspects around the setting. At first everyone groaned, but it was good for getting people finding their way through the papers, discussing and working together. In the end they all agreed it was fun! We also added some multiple choice questions with some silly alternatives, to lighten things up. Good luck! Lesley

Actually we're having a "pink" auction over lunch to raise money for Breast Cancer Research so we'll all be busy putting our hands in our pockets!
