Guest
At the end of half term we asked our children what they would like to learn about - the main response was cars, buses, mototrbikes etc -so we thought we'd go for a transport theme and follow the children's interest - they have already come up with a garage and car wash to start with. However quite a few children said they would like a castle and fairies/princess type theme - so we thought the garage in the outdoor area and a castle inside for role play - however I can see lots of learning coming from both but would we be better sticking to one theme or should we do both if we're following the children's interests? Any advice welcomed !
Guest
Your idea to do both sounds fine. My first thoughts were types of travel linked to fairy tales, cinderella's glass coach (maybe a display using bubble wrap?). Hobby horses, could the children construct a type of cannon ball thrower ( paper balls ). Sorry hard to explain like the large catapults used to 'ambush' the castle. Boxes turned into carts pulled by hobby horses? Peggy
AnonyMouse_3307
Multiple themes (contexts) are what chldren do naturally - so I'ld just go with it. Cx
