Wow! Goodies From County And Catch Up

Hello everyone,

I haven't posted on here for ages. Ella is now 7 months old, how time flies! She is not a good sleeper so I barely have any time at night. She suffers from trapped wind and was waking 9 or 10 times a night!!! Now it's around 5 which is a big improvement but I'm so tired. Ryan has just turned 3 and is so sweet but definitely has his moments.

I am on maternity leave until Easter when I will hopefully return to my school covering PPA for a day and a half. I am also going to do some hours at my mum's pre-school and we are going to apply for the graduate leader fund. I am now in the process of applying for EYPS that I am hoping to start in January. My theory is it will be easier to start it now while I'm not in school as it won't be so easy to have time off when it's nothing to do with them.

Anyway I went to a mangers meeting and we were told we were going to get lots of exciting things - a laptop for us, a PC and printer with a trolley for the children, software, 2 cameras one for us and one for the children, and one beebot or possibly more! We are also getting a box of musical instuments and as part of the transition stuff with schools we'll be getting a goody bag with lots of things including a puppet. Wow! The only thing is we did feel it penalised those settings that have spent money on these already. We could have done with the money for other things as we have all of this and more. But I mustn't complain!!!!

Hi Laura, welcome back :o

I remember the "no sleep for six years" era xD Just as Jamie started to sleep through the night, at 3 years old, Annie was born and the whole nightmare started again!

Which pathway are you hoping to take for the EYPS? I think this will determine whether or not it's best to start earlier rather than later.

I did the validation route, and it was pretty manageable apart from the week I used to do the written tasks :o I didn't speak to my children, my nursery staff took care of the nursery, and Steve did all the cooking. I literally wrote, ate and slept for the week xD

I've spoken to other EYPs who took the short pathway, and many of them said it wasn't long enough and they had to fit in lots of training/placements, etc. into a very short space of time. I'm hoping other EYPs here will be able to give you more information so you can make an informed judgement :(

Good luck; I'm sure you'll enjoy the leadership stuff; I certainly did!
