AnonyMouse_13453
So what was the strangest gift you got yesterday? I got 3 calendars - from the same person - what are they trying to tell me! One is a page a day fold it into paper aeroplanes, one is a funny cartoon 'eric', and the other old photographs. Hmm I also got a hand knitted Koala made by my son's flatmate, which is FAB! Guest
You beat me to it Cait, I was going to ask that question, just out of curiosity, but I didn't get any 'strange' presents this year. I am pleased to say I got lots of what I love, smellies, Body shop, Next, specialist hand made soaps, chocs and a good read,(Well done to my grown-up son who bought it for me) Dear Fatty by Dawn French (only just started it and laughed out loud by the second page, highly recommended). Hubby spoilt me and bought a happy tear to my eye. We had agreed not to go overboard with each others pressies as we have our four foster children to make Christmas special, so what did he do, he got me a super duper new laptop, I just need to get it networked with our main computer then I can go online and Hubby can still get on the 'old' computer too. (a method in his extravagant madness). The strangest present I ever got was from my grown-up son, (who has redeemed himself this year), when he was about 13 yrs old, he bought me an A4 clip folder, in black, with the cover torn where he'd pulled the 'sale price' label off. He said he had bought me something "really useful" because I was always doing paperwork. (That really showed how my preschool work impinged on home life  ). It was a 99p bargain from Woolworths, so in hindsight, with the current closure of Woolworths, he did actually buy me a sort of 'token of bygone days', now I shall have to search the attic and find it, I'm sure it's up there because as well as doing lots of preschool paperwork (which is why he thought I would love to receive the folder) I also hoard all said paperwork or anything else to do with preschool (jigsaws with one piece missing, bits and bobs that would be useful for creative art etc) FOR EVER, in my filled to chocoblock full, attic. My laptop (which also has a built in webcam and fingerprint security technology  ) needs to be networked to our main computer as we don't have a good signal for the wireless internet connection. Hubby has been waiting to play texas holdem poker, but since I finished my book, I've been playing, he wants to get 'his' computer back so has promised to get my laptop connected tomorrow. (my devious, hog his computer plan appears to have worked ha, ha ) That's the trouble with spoiling me at Christmas, I tend to act like a spoilt brat, at least it's only once a year Have fun with your laptop, as I will with mine once it's all connected. Peggy p.s. I did get him quite a nice electric razor, and a nose trimmer from the kids ( maybe he would add that to this 'strangest present' thread)

The only bit of xmas I don't co-ordinate is my pressie... men eh!?! LOL We have had second lot of presents today with youngest son and girlfriend - both our sons (knowing our love of all things French) bought us identical crepe making sets. We will just have to take one to our mobile home in France.
AnonyMouse_1195
Well I always fancied two of those crepe pans to keep up with the demand when people are eating them, as they are just a bit slow to keep up with the hungry hordes . I've got one and bought all my family large crepe makers one Christmas. Every time I go to France someone asks me to bring one back, but the trouble is I can't always find them. I use mine to make scotch pancakes as well- it works a treat! Yum!

AnonyMouse_8623
My bizarre present was from my husband....who else!! I got an energy saving meter.....yes, you heard it right.... an energy saving meter. It monitors and calculates the cost of running lights and appliances in the home or office. Well it certainly beats the wooden spoon set I got last year and the kitchen shears I received the year before. Next year I may buy my own presents!!!! AnonyMouse_19147
My parents bought me an emergency hammer to break through glass and cut through seat-belts in case I get in a predicament in my car!
