I've just been to the dentist because I cracked my tooth on new years eve. I was amazed, because my appointment was at 2.30 and I was back home at 3.00 after having my tooth out. :o You have to bear in mind that my dentist is in the next town and it takes approx 15-20 minutes to get there. MY daughter in law picked me up at 2.00, I went in just before my time and by 2.45 I was back in reception minus my tooth and £44.60. xD The numbness is slowly wearing off and I now have a little discomfort.

I hope it heals quickly, I'm supposed to be going out for a meal on Thursday.

Mary, that's amazing!

I broke a tooth and had to have it taken out - took about an hour and a half!! The broken bit came out easy-peasy, but the rest really wanted to stay where it was! Crown was not an option (apparently) as it had broken across the root. Dentist had to keep drilling at it then breaking bits off.... remembering it now, I think I probably deserved a medal - especially since I went back to work :o .

I'm not allowed to do strenous exercise, drink hot drinks, or drink alcohol because they can cause the socket to bleed, so that's your idea up the spout Jacquie.

Does cooking tea come under the heading of strenuous exercise, I wonder? :o

I feel for you Mary, having had two out in the last couple of years. Just keep taking the pain killers every four hours for the next couple of days, after that you should be feeling a lot better. And definitely no tea-cooking duties!

Mines been taken out. I am so brave. Phoned on my own, went on my own. Almost forgot to breath through the injecion but once that had worked it took 3 seconds for the tooth to come away.

So glad that particular horrible looking thing isnt in my mouth anymore.

For anyone suffering. Do it. Make that call.

I had all 4 impacted wisdom teeth out just before Christmas a couple of years ago. Top 2 one week and bottom 2 ten days later on Christmas eve eve. I had my dinner though on Christmas day! even though it was chopped up small. You must 'sloosh' with hot salty water, it will take the discomfort out of your jaw and make it so you can open your mouth to eat!
