Planning For Birth To 5

Help!

I have been asked to plan for a parents group catering for children from birth to school age. The group will run as a drop in session one afternoon a week. The local children's centre have ordered us some resources (still not sure what these are!) but I am worrying about the planning. I work in a foundation/year 1 class and we have no nursery. I am presuming that all I will need are continuous provision plans for the areas - as we don't know who will be there each week. Does anyone run anything similar? What sort of planning do you do? I suppose the baby area will depend on what the chidlren's centre comes up with, but as for the planning for other areas I am stumped.

Hi - good luck with this it sounds wonderful - I think you are corrent in what you say re planning just being continuous - once you have been up and running and if you get same children each week only then could you create specific activities through your obs - good luck with it..................... :o

Hi i am part of a school with childrens centre status i plan for 0-5 the way that i do it is have a theme and then first two weeks of groups i suss out where children are at and what their interests are then i tailor activities to children for one adult led activity then leave the children to self choose what they wish to play with always watching for observations. we fill in an observation sheet for parents at the end of the session on there we have chaning times of children snack they have eaten and activities done in session. On each session i write an evaluation at end of term a summary sheet of what we have done overall in the term Marshie
