Guest
Hi everyone! does anyone have any baking ideas/recipes to do with hedgehogs. i read one somewhere that mentioned turning over a basic bun and decorating with icing and chocolate buttons. Has anyone tried this? or do you have any other ideas. p.s i teach reception.
Guest
We make chocolate buns then take them out of the case turn them over, put chocolate buttercream on and then stick on chocolate buttons so they stand up. We also put a currant for the nose and 2 for the eyes. A messy activity but good fun.
Guest
Here's another variation on the hedgehog theme...... Buns Matchmaker sweets (cut into smaller sticks) for the spines Smarties / skittles or other coloured sweets Chocolate butter icing Take the bun and use the butter icing to decorate the top of th ebun - doesn't need to be tidy. Stick matchmakers in to the bun. Make a small face with smarties (or other some other less additive laden sweet) and there you go - a hedgehog! You may find it helpful to make this on a paper plate as the hedgehogs are quite meesy to lift up once the butter icing and matchmakers are in place. Guest
You could make scones, plain ones if you like, then get the children to pinch the dough mixture into spikes and shape the nose. Then add currents for the eyes. Linda
