We had a lull in the snow for an hour and it started to melt... but now its snowing gently again.
Guest
Got to nursery in Sheffield in record time this morning, decided to go through center rather than on ring road, was there by 7-15am. Took all my ski gear and spent the whole morning outside with anyone who wanted to play with me. Then the Head decided to close nursery this afternoon and send me home as I live the furthest. So with coffee and cake I am about to start and input information on our online tracker.

AnonyMouse_6361
Try again, still trying to type when the window closed down! I went to bed with a sprinking of snow, got up to about 10cm of snow. Most schools are closed only 2/3 are open today. I went to work this morning, hard work walking in the snow thank goodness for my new walking boots. Played out in the snow for about 15 mins, some children who came insufficenlty dress for outdoor play complained so we went back inside. Took some snow inside too but forgot about it lol. Walked back from work oh my legs hurt. Just about got home before bilzard conditions happened. Been told that no matter if it snows the precidted 30cm of snow I am EXPECTED to go to work tomorrow, err well ok but if I have an accident and fall over, break something they will pay for it! I am sooooo hoping for a snow day! Beth

AnonyMouse_19762
So...... about 12cms now - North Downs - Kent. Walked into work this morning v. hard going but really glad we opened as we had a 'full house' and great fun had by all! Snow continued to fall and parents started to ring in to say they wouldn't make our afternoon session, we ended up with just 1 little girl who was able to walk in - needless to say I had to make the decision to close. Really can't see us opening tomorrow as it is still snowing hard and the sky looks full. All very, very pretty. sunnyday

Guest
I think we were one of the only schools to open in Bradford . We had 28 out 60 reception children. We let them free play all day and just did observations-luxury We went out for an extended playout with spades and buckets this morning but the rest of school chicken out and stayed inside so we had 3 playgrounds of virgin snow    .lots of snow angels little and big but we couldn't build a snowman it just would not stick together ???? . lots of photo's of me being a big kid I will suffer this evening. Now that sounded like fun, yes a snowman cannot be built we tried at work too. There were only 1/2 primary schools open and 1 secondary school open by me today. Guest
Our roads were well gritted, I've travelled across the city and back about 4 times today, no traffic jams due to few cars. My children had a great day at school, 5 very large snowballs on the school field. They've only just come indoors from playing in the garden, they made a very energetic 'skipping' snowman. It's all nearly melted now, so I think our schools will be open tomorrow, we are East Kent, near the coast, we missed the heavy snowfall that London has experienced. AnonyMouse_3307
HA!!!!!! No travel to work today - all schools shut and the main office too. Thank god for common sense. CX
Guest MaryEMac
When I looked out of the window today the roads were clear but the paths, cars and garden was under snow. We went to work as usual and as soon as the children arrived, they went straight out on to the play area. Because I had been off sick for the previous 2 weeks, I was designated to stay indoors. Mind you I had plenty of paperwork to catch up on. I looked out and I could see the school children having assembly. Not sure how many were listening, they were all watching our children having fun. Later on, the top class went out onto the field for games(ball skills) and they looked to be having fun. When I walked home at 3pm it was more sleet than snow. if there is more tonight it won't bother the playgroup cos we don't open on a Tuesday so I can have a lay in.
