Guest
We've had a shape pizza shop for role play this week. It's been wonderful but hard to explain so I'll try take some pictures. We made our own pizza boxes from a map and wrote 'pizza' on each side as 'zz' was one of this weeks phonemes.Baked pizza (toppings graphs, questionaires). Painted with orange green and white. Answered Chow Baby!! for the register Looked for the boot shape on Google earth on the IAW. Castanets on the music area. Spagetti on the tuff spot (although it went into a wall paper paste type mess) Sorting pasta shapes in sorting wheels then used to make then to pattern strips and number lines using squared paper to back up one-to-one. All with reception class
Guest
Great ideas from Biccy! That sounds like great fun! Something else they could have is a 'passport' so they feel like they are travelling somewhere new. Then each different activity they do, whether CI or adult directed they could get a stamp or sticker in it. They could also learn to count to 5 or 10 in italian and say hello, goodbye, please, thank you, yes and no as they love exploring the sounds in words. Guest
We once made pizza's from scratch - great fun. We had a parent helper, myself and nursery nurse and split the class into three groups. One group made the pizza dough (packet bread dough mix), one group made the tomato sauce (tinned tomatoes, garlic and herbs), and another group prepared all the toppings. We had listed possible toppings, done a graph of fav pizza's and then each child made a shopping list for their own pizza and we bought the ingredients. Once everything was prepared each child put together their own pizza. We decorated the room with their own decorated Italian flags and put green and orange table clothes on the tables. We played Italian music and had a FAB party.
