Guest Posted November 6, 2004 Posted November 6, 2004 does anyone have ideas for new christmas songs for a multicultural nursery
AnonyMouse_79 Posted November 6, 2004 Posted November 6, 2004 Hi and welcome eyteach. Not sure of any new songs, but for these little children arent even the old favourites new?
AnonyMouse_2732 Posted November 7, 2004 Posted November 7, 2004 Hello there, eyteach! Welcome aboard and have fun. There's one song I really like, about robots coming for dinner, but I can't find the words !! I'll have a good hunt round, but in the meantime, does anyone out there know the one I mean? Could you post the words? Sue
Guest Posted November 7, 2004 Posted November 7, 2004 this is one we sing at our nursery and its so easy that even i can follow the tune I_can_see_a_star_shining_brightly.doc
AnonyMouse_2293 Posted November 7, 2004 Posted November 7, 2004 here are the words for the robot song as I know them; When the robots came to dinner, They came on Christmas day, They didn't like the turkey so they threw it all away. They ate up all the knives and forks, and then they asked for more, I've never had a Christmas day quite like that before!! it's (kind of) to the tune of 'grand old duke of york' Sandie
Guest Posted November 8, 2004 Posted November 8, 2004 thanks for the robot one, were doing past present & future christmas this year, so the robot one is great for the future. one of our children's favorites is this one a christmas tree, a christmas tree, a fairy on the top of the christmas tree, a christmas tree, a christmas tree, a fairy on the top of the christmas tree a star, a star, a fairy on the top of the christmas tree, a star, a star, a fairy on the top of the christmas tree, sung to the "pizza Hut" tune, kids pick it up so quick. you can do some actions to it as well. another is a cover version of twinkle twinlke! (same tune etc) twinkle, twinkle, chocolate bar my dad drives a rusty car pull the starter, push the choke, off we go in a clould of smoke not that christmasy but something different, and it gives the parents a giggle.
AnonyMouse_3735 Posted November 9, 2004 Posted November 9, 2004 Our children always enjoy the following.. father christmas, father christmas He got stuck, he got stuck Climbing down the chimney Climbing down the chimney wot bad luck wot bad luck tune of frere jaques we had a lot of discussion on santa and chimneys etc from this one today. we do a mixture of makaton signs and made up ones to go with it to make it very visual to the children. Inge
AnonyMouse_3139 Posted November 9, 2004 Posted November 9, 2004 Have no idea how to explain the tune but these are the words of one of our favourites When Santa got stuck up the chimney, he began to shout 'You girls and boys wont get any toys, if you dont get me out. My beard is black, there's soot in my sack, my nose is tingily too' When Santa got stuck up the chimney, 'Atchoo, atchoo, atchoo'
AnonyMouse_2293 Posted November 28, 2004 Posted November 28, 2004 This is really popular at our pre school "Toys on the Christmas Tree" (Tune: This Old Man) This little drum--on the tree Santa put it there for me With a boom-boom, rat-a-tat Rummy-tummy-tum Christmas Day is so much fun! Guest Posted October 9, 2005 Posted October 9, 2005 I have a 'book' of songs that is a work in progress. I tried to attach it here but even a page was rejected as too big For anyone interested you can view it (and I should imagine save/print too) on my website... http://www.geocities.com/seraphina68/songs.html Hope it's useful to someone and any new ones...?
AnonyMouse_2732 Posted October 9, 2005 Posted October 9, 2005 Hi Pandamonium, That's great, saves me having to copy them all out Well done, you!! If I come across any new ones, I'll let you know, for sure. Sue

Steve Posted November 10, 2005 Posted November 10, 2005 Hi Pandamonium - Hmm. The system shouldn't have prevented that upload - it was only 384KB. Thanks for posting it on your own site, but if you find your host objecting to the amount of traffic it makes, let me know and I'll re-post it here so that it doesn't affect your site.
Guest Posted November 11, 2005 Posted November 11, 2005 Thanks Steve, I had the same problem when I tried to post an essay - just words no clipart so couldn't have been too large! I even tried c+p to 3 separate documents to make it smaller but still wouldn't go on...

Guest Posted November 15, 2005 Posted November 15, 2005 I'm guessing the chorus would be Is this the way to Bethlehem/...
Guest Posted November 15, 2005 Posted November 15, 2005 Found this but don't know if it's what you were thinking.... Show me the way to shine for Jesus Though the shadows gather There’s a light that shines forever. From the bright beginning, Till the day the earth stops its spinning. And I feel that brightness Rising up in me. Making me the person That I am meant to be. Show me the way to shine for Jesus! Let my love light up this Christmas. Changing dark to light around us. Oh sweet Jesus, shine in me! (x2) Sha lai lai etc All the light and glory Turned into the Christmas story. See the darkened stable Lit up with a newly born baby. And the Son still shines now Turning night to day. Loving, healing, saving - He makes me want to say: Show me the way to shine for Jesus! Let my love light up this Christmas Changing dark to light around us Oh sweet Jesus, shine in me (x2) Shai lai lai etc Lyrics copyright Lucy Moore 2005

The shepherds are a-watching, a-watching, a -watching The shepherds are a-watching on the first Christmas night. 2. The shepherds saw an angel etc. 3. They went to find the baby etc. 4. They found Him in the stable etc. 5. He's God's gift to you and me etc. The children find this easy to learn. Anita
