Introdudcing Time To Reception Children

Hi all! im introducing time to my reception children next week. i'm feeling a little lost as to how i would introduce it. Keep thinking my lesson is going to be a total flop! i was thinking about getting the children to sequence the school routine, and then for the more able introduce o clock. has any one else got any good practical ideas..im having a mind blank!! thanks!

Sparklebox do sequencing the day pictures. Also What's the time Mr Wolf, Very Hungry Caterpillar, Bad Tempered Ladybird, looking as seasons all come under this heading. Sparklebox also do a blank clock template!

I remember when I was 6 getting a watch for my birthday I was so proud of it and my mum sat me down with the top off dairy lea cheese triangles she drew numbers and clock face and pointed out that the hands show fractions I dont know how she explained it but I learnt how to tell the time straight away seeing a clock face as fractions was like a revelations

 

ok I was a little older than reception age but linking fractions and clock faces worked for me when I was 6 so maybe you could simplify it (or should I say differentiate!) look at the halves maybe the quarters
