AnonyMouse_7172
Last week we had our parents evening ... we have these twice a year and usually get under 50% attendance. Parents have 10 minute appointments with keyworkers (as well as our daily contact, obviously). Parents go through Special Books, Scrap books and records for children and discuss their child with keyworker. They also mingle with staff, each other, the Nursery owners (me and my family!!) We have 84 children on role and had 51 appointments for children!!! we were so pleased that our parents have recognised all the hard work of our staff and see that we do more than 'a bit of singing and mucking about with sand!!' - Such an acheivement to have so many come for the evening. We had wine and nibbles ... curriculum displays ... a display of the PEAL resources and some ideas of things they could support at home ... we had info about local services Parents were chatting and really socialising with each other and the staff - as the owner of the Nursery I was so proud! My staff were fabulous and so knowledgable - what a team!!! Going to buy lots of biscuits for them on Monday! pw xxx

Guest Wolfie
Fantastic - that sounds really positive! I too had a great evening with parents this week. We took three areas of learning and set up activities in our three rooms - 0-2s, 2-3s and 3-4s - typical of the type we might provide to promote aspects of those areas...and sent the parents to play! They loved it! I had staff in all three rooms to talk about the activities and how they promoted learning and development and I had also written and printed some "activity cards", linked to the three areas, full of ideas to try at home. Next term we're going to "do" the other three areas, all outside. It's great when something goes well, isn't it!
