Christmas Ideas

We like to help the children make a present for their parents at Christmas. Usually they decorate photo frames and we put a photo of them in it. The parents LOVE it, and the frames encourage lots of variety and creativity, but it takes such a long time cutting out the back and front of the photo frames for all 25 children. Does anyone have any other ideas that we might use this year instead that don't involve too much preparation? It's possible we may have OFSTED in so preferably need an idea that won't come out with 25 identical products at the end! (Or at least has some obvious stepping stone(s) in mind)

Hand print calendar

 

There used to be so many,

Of my finger prints to see,

On furniture and walls and things

from sticky, grubby, me.

 

If you stop and think awhile

You’ll see I’m growing fast.

Those little hand prints disappear,

You can’t bring back what’s past.

 

So here’s a small reminder

To keep not wipe away,

Of tiny hands and how they look,

To make you smile some day.

 

 

 

Cheese box treasure box - cover the lid of a round cheese box with pasta then spray with gold spray.

I have seen an idea wher you use lolly sticks and join them at the corners to mak the front of thr frame and the picture is stuck on a piece of card.

You could let the children paint the looly sticks different colours or add glitter or draw on them with felt tip pens.

We have ordered a4 calanders for next year and have stuck the childs photo in the top part... the can then decorate around the edge with glitter and pens.

we made photoframes using 2 triangles of 3 lolly sticks. The 2 tirangles were glued together to make a star and the photo of the child was stuck in the middle of tghe star. The looly sticks can be painted in any clolour before the photo is stuck on. Very easy and effective and at a pinch can double as a tree ornament.

last year we used the childrens hand and foot prints to make a raindeer for the parents to take home. the foot was the face we added the hand prints for antlers we then added eyes and a red pom pom for a nose. the children enjoyed this and the parents liked this as it was something different.

Have you got access to unwanted CD cases? For Mother's day last year we took a photograph of the child and then they drew a picture of themselves-just faces. We put these into either side of the CD case. Very simple and their mums, and dads, thought they were lovely.

we often use paper plates where the children decorate the rim with pasta, rice, paint etc etc and stick a picture drawn by the child in the middle or else a photo of the child, no preparation and very little adult input needed, always gives individual results.

Last year we did Salt dough tree decorations (dry, paint and glitter) not v.individual though (except they choose which Christmassy cutter they want to use). OFSTED at xmas time? (uurgh!) Good luck if they come.Hope it all goes well, sure it will
