AnonyMouse_13453
QUALITY IMPROVEMENT SUPPORT PROGRAMME - QUISP I'm apparently going to get a visit about this - has anyone else had one?
AnonyMouse_19762
Oh deep joy - another new scheme - just what's needed - not! Seriously - I think in my neck of the woods - sunny Kent - this is known by another name - SIP - Setting Improvement Partnership - possibly/maybe!!! This is what was meant to follow the ECERS audit and possibly has for some groups - I haven't seen a sniff of a SIP - but hey I'm not complaining! Guest
Hi Cait It's actually called EYQISP or Early Years Quality Improvement Support Programme. You can find it here: http://nationalstrategies.standards.dcsf.gov.uk/node/123129 and you can download it from www.teachernet.gov.uk/publications too. Ref: 00669-2008BKT-EN Order from DCSF 0845 60 222 60 or e-mail dcsf@prolog.uk.com I've got a paper copy and at first glance it looks useful, although it is yet more work.... Hmmm I wonder if it would count instead of the Quality Improvement Schemes that people have been doing for the last few years???? Maybe I smell a rat..... not compulsory QA at the moment but maybe soon?

Guest
Seriously, it's just going to be more work, with more people breathing down our necks isn't it? Every single new initiative is now demotivating and takes us further away from working with the children. I really feel like shouting from the rooftops 'ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!!!! LEAVE US ALONE!!!!' All I want to do is work with children - I don't remember buying into all this and all for such a paltry wage too......... (Oops, moan over, for the minute anyway!) AnonyMouse_8466
Hi Sunnyday... no need to stand corrected.... Its OK LJW: she was probably sitting down! I welcome the opportunity to improve my practice on the basis that we should never be satisfied with the standard we've reached. However I do agree that we need time to 'just be' sometimes and consolidate what we've learned and look at how things are now rather than constantly being asked to implement one new initiative after another. As always, much is dependant upon how these things are put to us and whether we feel we are being valued for the good jobs we do or are being 'picked on' for the things that might be better. Hopefully your meeting will fall into the former category Cait - but in any case I'll be interested to know what you make of it! Maz

AnonyMouse_19762
Thats why i'm leaving!!!!!!! Oh Brenda - I bet we were all thinking about you - I know that I was. All joking aside - it is all becoming too much - as Maz suggested we do need to be left alone and to have time to reflect on the changes that have been implemented. Lots of job justifying in my humble opinion and lots of Government box ticking! Now - just off to my rooftop!!! Sunnyday
Guest
Did mine before Christmas. Our early years advisory teacher and consultant came in and we sat down together and discussed our practice-just an audit really. I didn't find it too onerous and have to say it really confirmed what I already thought-that we were doing a good job. It's just good sometimes for somebody else to come in and confirm this. We spent about just over an hour filling in the form and then identified priorities to work on. Ours was consolidating our already good relationship with parents. Guest
Thats why i'm leaving!!!!!!! Seriously, Brenda, I'm considering it too! HappyMaz, I totally agree with everything you say too, but there HAS to be a balance surely. I am so inundated with paperwork that I'm working non-stop to stand still and only being paid for 3 morning sessions. How can that be right? I'm worn out all the time, naggy with the family..... and I know I'm not the only one... I'm just asking for common sense to prevail! AnonyMouse_13453
Well I've been told it's going to take a couple of hours. They won't provide any funding for supply cover whilst it's being done so we are having to do it at the end of the day when the children have gone, so it's just me out of pocket salary wise. I bet they are getting paid for their time! I REALLY REALLY REALLY wish they'd go and leave me in peace, second audit I've had this year - first was buildings in September and I only just got the written report from that this week because I complained when they asked to come for this one! It is so factually inaccurate it's a joke!

Cait - I empathise with you - with have too many people 'breathing down our necks' - time to just 'be' would be great just now and a chance to enjoy our summer term - leaving all of this 'stuff' until September when we will have had a full year of putting the E.Y.F.S. into practice. I know all the right lines about 'improving on and reflecting upon our practice etc.etc.' - but a bit of 'space' would go down well right now! If it has to go ahead - I hope all goes well for you. Guest
Don't get me started again I spent all last saturday on SEF training.... (LA's - a word of advice, never book a venue for its IT facilities on a saturday - of course there's only the caretake there on a saturday and, NO HE ISN'T AN IT SPECIALIST!!!) Actually I found out that the initial statement in your SEF, the factual bit about your setting is what the Ofsted Inspector will lift from the SEF verbatim and put in the opening para of your inspection report... it is therefore worth spending time on this and making sure it is as upbeat as you can make it. Mine was a little too 'real' talking about the negative affect the amalgamation of our local schools is having on our numbers.... needless to say I changed that pronto! Anyway Cait, yet more evidence that we are doing everyone else's job for them, as well as our own! Edited May 5, 2009 by Guest
AnonyMouse_19762
Cait - have you seen my 'new topic' Flu Pandemic and Ofsted - now I'm thinking............. If WHO raises the level to 6 over the weekend ............ Surely you could tell these EQISP bods that unfortunately you have to 'forbid non-essential visitors'!!! AnonyMouse_13453
Got a text message at the end of the day today to say that they are not coming tomorrow - they haven't time - it's taking much more than the hour they'd anticipated, so can they reschedule ...... ? Well DUH!! it takes hours just to read through the material - I've been at it a week and not got right through it so how they thought they could do it in an hour is beyond me - makes me wonder if they've had any training for it at all ......
