Guest
Hi I have a young man working at the nursery who is excellent with the children, he is currently undertaking the NVQ2, he is bank staff but works mainly full time. I was told recently that staff who have not got the relevent qualifications can not be counted in the ratios, is this true??. If so it would be a real loss to the nursery. Thanks Sam
Guest
I dont think this is true... In our setting their is me (L3) and the other staff have no qualifications, but both just started courses! We have been told they need to start getting their qualifications but thats ok to be "doing" a qualification and that it's not to do with ratios (afterall a parent helper can be counted in a ratio) but beacuse the EYFS Statutory framework says something along the lines of , half of all staff (excluding manager) must have level 2 or above qualification. Therfore if you have 3 staff on including manager at least one must be l2. Hope that makes sense!!
Guest
Yes that does make sense thanks. We have 8 full time staff not including myself and 7 of them are level 3 or equivalent and then there is Joe and i did think it should be fine just got alittle worried. Thank you
AnonyMouse_19135
Last I heard was that so long as at least 50% of your staff have a valid qualification then you are ok, has that changed? If so I need to put a rocket up some of the staff
