Help With Procedure To Write Policies

hi all

 

can you please help me go through the procedure I have to use to write policy eg. write policy in consultation with leadership team, present to SMT etc

 

Also please can someone give me a list under what I ahould know about safeguarding all the things just writing something and dont want to miss anything out.

Have you looked at the policies already written and on offer from the Preschool Learning Alliance? Why reinvent the wheel?

Whenever I write a policy I use a previous one to base it on. I then give it to the head to read. It then gets agreed by the rest of the teaching staff and if it is appropriate by the governors.

I would agree with Cait. We purchased the PLA book of policies which comes with a CD. The work is done for you.

All u need to do is insert names and contacts where indicated and tweak areas to suit your setting! Our committee struggled for months before we were introduced to this CD but then only took a week to complete

We use these - and we have some of our own too which we have developed over the years. It certainly makes life simpler - mind you, there were a couple of things we didn't agree with and chopped out - like a bit about saying that all children over two should be in pull-ups and not nappies. (where necessary - obviously) we felt it was very dictatorial and not equal opps/inclusive at all!
