Sand For Moulding

Recommended Posts

Next week I'd like to have sand in the sand tray that can be sculpted - sticking together more than just damp sand would. What can I mix it with? If I mix it with fairy liquid, does that work? If so, do I mix it with wet , damp or dry sand? And what kind of quantity? I've been meaning to do this for ages, just haven't got round to it! Thanks in advance!

We had some sand called Delta sand that is similar to moon sand and can be sculpted and sticks together but it can't be mixed with water. It was also quite expensive at 8.99 a kg but the children loved it. Unfortunately it hasn't lasted long this time round as the children used it as snow balls :o

Bring Back Persil Stars! We had loads of Delta Sand with those and the children loved it! As you say it is very expensive and actually branded for children over 5! :o

I've just read the recipe and am also going to have a go, sounds great. Not sure about the commercially available coloured sand tho..... I understood it stains quite badly.... what are your experiences?
