AnonyMouse_9574 Posted May 25, 2009 Posted May 25, 2009 Has anyone ever done this topic with Reception?! If so any fab ideas? I have a little girl who is obsessed and would love to cover it but am struggling to bring in down to their level (we've just had an African arts week) currently i'm thinking of a role play pyramid with lots of bandages. Different size pyramids and link to 3d shapes... any advances? Thanks in advance Qx
AnonyMouse_19782 Posted May 25, 2009 Posted May 25, 2009 a tad stumped!! Would they be able to design or make the oval shaped cartouches - I'm thinking thick card and pieces of paper mache to give a raised pattern then painted, or link their names with hieroglyphics (spelling very bad) e.g. make their name up from pictures, not necessarily Egyptian hieroglyphics, but things that are more every day, i.e. an apple for a etc. Maybe design their own sphynx - pictures of animals cut in half and odd pairs put together. I'm sorry I'm rambling now. I love the Egyptians, we had a fab holiday in the Valley of the Kings some years ago, the colours in the tombs were fabulous, the stories incredible, but bringing it to life very simply needs more thinking time!!!
Guest Posted May 25, 2009 Posted May 25, 2009 A couple of years ago my son made a "relic" by sticking sand to a box with PVA and then painting the whole thing with white paint. You can also paint designs onto it. It ended up looking very good and quite old.
