Healthy Eating Week

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I work in a nursery and we are having a healthy eating week and was just wondering if anyone had any ideas for activities, songs, etc.

Any ideas would be most welcome.

Thanks

what about giving each child a different fruit - ask them to describe the fruit ,name it if they can. talk about the origin if the fruit and where they go to get their fruit with their family.

allow children to cut up the fruits -how many pieces are there -to taste them - talk about the different tastes - likes/dislikes.

could use the other pieces to do printing activity - look at the different shapes the different fruits make.

books such as olivers vegetables ,olivers milkshakes, handas surprise are good books.

they could paint a picture of their fruits - whole and cut up.

hope thats a help x

one of the things we did was talk about which parts of our body different foods were good for. Also for a bit of fun we drew an enormous Mr. Greedy, told a couple of his stories and then told the children that they could only feed Mr. G good things to eat rather than all the things he usually chose to have. We cut out his mouth area and they posted pictures of foods they felt would be good for him - they made very good choices. They also made stick puppets - lolly stick, sellotape and line drawings of fruit and veg which they coloured and drew faces on and put googly eyes on etc. We also for a change let them try different fruit juices in shot glasses. Their overall favourite was V8 Tropical.

We're going to be making fruit kebabs at snack time - we are going to try lolly sticks as they are not as sharp
