Guest
Can any one help me with the ratio for LOs in a school nursery? I was told it is the same as in school, that is 1-30 but how can that be when qualified staff have to be 1-13 during the sessions?

Guest
lunch times have never made sense to me. As higher level teaching assistants in school we always had to be in twos if teacher was not present. At lunch time a completely unqualified person is left with 30 children on their own while the children are eating and drinking!!! One dinner lady per class of 30 (foundation aged children)was the norm in our school. I stepped in on a couple of occasions when dinner lady was absent and it was hard, one dropped sandwich, one carefully aimed yogurt tube, one wet child, it was a nightmare. I spoke to the head teacher and said there should be at least two people in each classroom, fell on deaf ears. mrsW.
