WE HAVE AN LA PERSON COMING INTO SCHOOL AT THE MOMENT TO SUPPORT NUMERACY. IT IS MY TURN TO BE SEEN ON WEDNESDAY. JUST WONDERING IF ANYONE HAS ANY NEW AND INSPIRING PSRN ACTVITIES FOR AN INTRODUCTION, FOCUSED TASKS, INDEPENDENT ACTIVITIES AND OUTDOORS!!! SO NOT A BIG ASK REALLY!!! : FOR A RECEPTION CLASS

AM JUST A LITTLE BRAIN DEAD AS WE ARE STILL WAITING FOR THE OFSTED CALL AS WE WILL BE 3 YEARS IN JULY- SODS LAW THEY WILL COME IN THE LAST WEEK!!!!

ALSO AT THIS POINT IN THE YEAR DO YOU DO WHOLE CLASS INTRODUCTIONS OR DO YOU SPLIT THE CHN INTO GROUPS E.G. SOMETIMES I HAVE A MIXED ABILITY GROUP AND SO DOES THE TA JUST BECAUSE WE FIND THIS HELPS THE CHILDREN FOCUS MORE IN A SMALLER GROUP OF 15.

JUST CHECKING STILL OK TO VERBALLY SHARE THE LEARNING INTENTION/OBJECTIVE AND THE SUCCESS CRITERIA?

WHAT ABOUt THE NEW BUZZ WORD 'AfL' opportuites within the session, does anybody do anything really special?

hope you can help

Thanks

Hi Natasha you do seem a little stressed!

We make sure there are maths opportutnities in as many areas as possible in both the indoor and outdoor so that at child initiated time especially children can use the skills we have taught in our small group times. We still teach in small groups as we find this most effective but we also have large group times where we may sing songs and play games that have a mathematical content.

We use the BEAM books for ideas and they have some great titles have a look here

this is one of my favourites!

If you have a maths PNS consultant coming in to owrk with you why not take the chance to pick their brains after all that is what they are there to do! Maybe make sure you have lots of maths opportunities in all of your areas and then during child initiated support these opportunities wherever possible and let the LA person see this then have a conversation afterwards about your good provision and how you could enhance this.
