Guest
I don't think we use a rota but they just come about through adult led activities and extensions of the childrens interests
AnonyMouse_13453
We suggest them - a general 'does anyone fancy painting this morning? Shall we get paints out?' seems to do the trick - as you say, children can forget that thee activities exist!
AnonyMouse_5458
Could you do it as your keyworker group work? I'm planning to try this in september; start in earnest to work to a plan rather than panic at end of term that I haven't seen children do specific things. AnonyMouse_19762
Don't know if this will help........ We have either painting or junk modelling available at every session........children then decide whether or not to 'take part'......we do usually give a general 'call out' as the morning goes on "does anyone else want to do painting/junk before it goes away" - as some children need a little reminder that it is 'there'! AnonyMouse_79
Shouldnt it be part of your continuous provision and then focus activities to teach skills etc.?
AnonyMouse_19762
Shouldnt it be part of your continuous provision and then focus activities to teach skills etc.? That's exactly the way I see it too Susan.
AnonyMouse_64
As Susan says, focus activities can be used to teach important skills. These should still be planned for alongside the CI activities. I used to try to introduce different painting techniques in the Autumn term. These could then be revisited or extended through the year according to further observations.
