AnonyMouse_11962
Hi, has anyone bought (or even got a price on) a modular building which is refurbished for use as a nursery? I have two companies getting back to me and am itching for a ball park figure - any ideas and any experiences? thanks, A
AnonyMouse_1469
sorry you haven't had any replies so far anju......................but have you considered approaching your LEA?? I know some groups in our area have acquired buildings this way, often at no cost other than transporting it from the old site to your new one. AnonyMouse_11962
thanks Narnia, it's not the LEA that owns the land as it's a church school so it would be the Diocese and I will approach them but there's no money likely! I am hoping the school may pay towards the foundation work required. I've had 2 quotes which are quite different but much cheaper than a new portakabin so I am exploring further... AnonyMouse_8466
Sounds exciting, anju! As a packaway group we dream of having our own building, and not a week goes by without one of us saying "now that would be a great spot for a nursery!" Maybe one day I'll win the lottery (or even buy a ticket) and have enough money to turn it into reality, but in the meantime we plod on. Keep us posted, won't you? AnonyMouse_11962
I spoke to someone from one of the companies today and he is coming to do a site visit next tuesday to discuss possibilities. the proposed building is bigger than the decrepit one we are in so I hope it would fit! then there's the matter of the cost of disposing of the old one, laying foundations and connecting services. dont know if planning permission would also be required. BUT I am very, very exceited and quite optimistic about being allowed to become a private business and also about the building! we currently share with the school breakfast club and I think that would have to continue but if it was my own building I hope I would not pay much (if any) rent for the land if I let the breakfast club use it. may be wishful thinking!
