Guest
I must be mad......here's the story......... My mums 80th Birthday on 31st August, as a present I got her a 'novelty' 1 square foot of land in Scotland, so she can now be called 'Lady Margaret of Kincairn' . I also said I would take her back to her birthplace in Scotland but she asked if I would take her to Rothesay instead, a place where she lived during her childhood, just before the war. So Thurs AM I leave KENT and arrive in Rothesay (via the ferry) at 7:30 pm, well we missed the 6:15 crossing so had to wait until the 7pm one  ) So Friday, a trip down memory lane around the Isle of Bute, especially Rothesay, leave around 3pm to start the journey home, stay overnight somewhere around Birmingham then continue home on Saturday morning. So whats the furthest distance you've travelled for a day trip ??? Kent to Rothesay 511 miles. But hey, mums are worth it. Peggy

AnonyMouse_64
In terms of a day trip I can't really beat that Peggy. We once had a wedding to go to which was almost 300 miles away from where we lived. Being poor at the time we couldn't afford an overnight stay so did it as a day trip, leaving at about 5 in the morning and returning home by about midnight. Our eldest daughter was 6 months old at the time - I'm not sure it's something I would do nowadays though!
