Guest Posted September 14, 2009 Share Posted September 14, 2009 Hi all I'm new to Reception after teaching year 5 for five years and i'm trying to get my head around Literacy planning. Do you use a book to focus your planning on? How often do the children have guided writing? We've been doing initial CLL based assessments and lots of speaking and listening activities. I'm just wondering how to organise Literacy once the children have settled and what sort of activities people do. Could I possibly look at some examples of Literacy planning so I can get an idea?? Have you tried searching on the forum for previous discussions about literacy planning, as there may be already something kicking around which is just what you want. AnonyMouse_79 Posted September 16, 2009 Share Posted September 16, 2009 I never planned for literacy separately but included it and phonics within my weekly planner as I felt that it was delivered as an integral part of the curriculum and should be planned as such too. Guest Posted September 16, 2009 Share Posted September 16, 2009 Hi, I used to plan for Literacy separatly but don't now. I tend to add onto my adult led activities a literacy based activity. I do tend to have a focus book - mostly one a week, but more often than not my literacy activity is linked to the child initied activites from the previous lesson/week. Sorry to not be of much help.
