Medium Term Planning

Recommended Posts

Hi Everyone, I'm really confused on how to do my medium term planning. If we plan to the children's interests, we therefore can not plan ahead. How does everyone else do their medium term planning? Anybody like to share some examples. Thanks very much :o . Tia

Well I have been wondering this myself. I have heard that you no longer need to do a medium term plan but i felt I wanted something. So I am just doing a topic/theme web, with the topic in the middle and the areas of learning around the edge and i fill in possible activities for each area of learning, I haven't put learning intentions of development matters on it, instead I am highlighting them as i cover them. Interested to read what others are doing.

My medium term plan is a list of next steps for each of the children that the key person gets from their observations, each child has 4 per half term which along with their interests make up a rough plan.

I am doing a similar thing to you, KST - once I have decided on a mini topic, medium term plan is a list of possible activities for 6 areas of learning, and am highlighting development matters statements as covered. Whether this is 'right', though, I don't know....!!! :o
