AnonyMouse_2186 Posted September 22, 2009 Posted September 22, 2009 Our policy states that no person under the 18 can collect from the nursery, however, i cannot find this in the standards. Does anyone know whether this is statutory or not? We have a parent who wants her niece to collect, who is 17, just not really sure where we stand legally! Any help would be appreciated!!
AnonyMouse_1469 Posted September 22, 2009 Posted September 22, 2009 I'm fairly sure I read somewhere that it's 16............................or did I imagine that??

AnonyMouse_25331 Posted September 22, 2009 Posted September 22, 2009 not sure if it is statutory but it is in our policies too! bit hard though cos one of our parents is only 17.. If it is parts of your policy I don't think it matters whether it is statutory. You have a duty of care until the children are passed over to a responsible adult (18?). Sorry can't be of more help.
AnonyMouse_9650 Posted September 22, 2009 Posted September 22, 2009 We also say 16 - however we also allow under 16's to collect if they have parental responsibility!!!!!!!
Guest Posted September 22, 2009 Posted September 22, 2009 In school's there is no legislation - we were having a discussion about it tonight - but we use our professional judgement. Obviously our children are older so it is probably different but we have lots of children picked up by older brother's, sister's and babysitter's from the next door secondary school - some of which are definitely younger than 16.
