Planning With Children

Hi,

I am looking into ways to involve children in the planning of their learning but am not sure how to do this! Once we have observed them, etc, and decided on a mini topic, I want to use their input to plan what they want to learn about. In the past, I have tried asking them at the start of topics, but I don't seem to get very far - perhaps with one or two very able children, but the others never seemed to 'get it'! Maybe it was how I was going about it, I don't know...

Anyway, I found this about Talking and Thinking Books on the Mindstretchers site, and wondered if anyone has used this idea or knows anything about it?

Or does anyone use any other methods that work well in involving the children?

Thanks for any help!
