could you use a story where a child maybe has a favourite toy that gets lost or broken and use this to bounce discussion from the children about their favourite toys and if anything has happened to them?

hmm will give it more thought.

Or really simple "the lost teddy" ORT Stage 1 with no words.

I scanned the 4 pics last week and put them one at a time on the IWb whilst we discussed what we thought was happening by "reading" the pics.

On Monday we are going to sequence the 3 or 4 pics (and the children will take photos for eveidence of their good learning) whilst one group cuts and sticks them. Their ideas can be scribed or they can have a go at writing if they want to.

why not put a teddy bear in the classroom or outside and ask

'How did he get here'

the stories that can come from this simple activity you could bring a few props into the story as it moves on

How about talking to them about a lost toy of yours when you were a child [or any lost item, if they relate toys to smaller people only] and ask them for their advice about what they would do/ why they wouldn't wasnt to lose a toy??
