Guest
Hi everyone Was just wondering who has some songs to grab the children's attention when you bring them onto the carpet at transition times? I use music to signal to the children it is time to stop an activity and sit on the carpet, but could do with some sort of song that children can join in with or an echo song or some sort of chant once the music has been turned off before they get bored and start wriggling. Thanks XXX

Guest
as i read the first post the song 'everybody do this' immediately sprung to mind and i was about to reply when saw vickyk109 had beaten me to it another similar one we use is 'follow, follow, follow me do, i do this, you do it too' my colleagues and I often find that if we sing instructions they are more warmly received and responded to by the children anyway so pretty sure you could adapt any tune and/or words to a situation

Guest
Two little hands go clap, clap, clap Two little feet go tap, tap, tap Two little fists go thump, thump, thump Two little feet go jump, jump, jump, One little body turns around One little child sits quietly down. *** If you're ready for a story take a seat, If you're ready for a story take a seat, If you're ready for a story check your arms and then your feet If you're ready for a story take a seat
Guest
I sing "Everybody sit on the mat, sit on the mat, sit on the mat, Everybody sit on the mat come and have a chat, come and have a chat, come and have a chat with me! Sometimes I improvise and the song goes on and on rhyming as I go! Edited October 13, 2009 by Guest
