Hi all

Does anyone have any great songs or rhymes that 'mention' saying please and/or thank you!

We are really struggling with 'our' manners this term - far too much I need......I want......etc. etc.

My staff and I are skilled at modelling manners.........and always ask children 'to ask nicely' and to thank staff and other children as appropriate..........

We always, always notice a 'downturn' in manners following a holiday - but have usually managed to 'lick them into shape' by now!

Please and thank you, please and thank you,

I must say, I must say,

When I ask for something, when I ask for something,

Every day, every day.

Sung to Frere Jacques tune. We used to

sing it at snack time in the school I used to work in.

Good luck, mrsW.x

Hi

Lovely rhymes everyone - will use these with my children at pre-school. At the moment I say what I say to my children at home "I want dosen`t get, what`s the magic word?" The rhymes are much more positive - thanks.

we use please and thank you just before lunch so they always have manners in mind when speaking to the dinner ladies x

Just a little one, but when we sing Baa, Baa, Black Sheep (or whatever other versions you sing), we always sing:

Thank you said the Master,

Thank you said the Dame

Thank you said the little boy who lives down the lane.

It just seems to reinforce the message

Hope this helps!

We sing the same as this except we say, 'we must say', and 'when we ask for something', must say the children do seem to say please and thank you very naturally.

This reminds me of a little boy we had the year before last who at snack time shocked us all on his first day by saying 'P**s off f**k you' to my deputy when she went near him with the milk. She reeled backwards in shock before we realised he was saying 'please and thankyou'. whoops.
