AnonyMouse_705
Hi We have a parent who has a 2 year, 9 month old child who is tracing letters. Could somebody point me in the direction of theory regarding good practice when developing writing skills? Cannot access my laptop at the moment so somewhat bereft, as it has so much information on it. I have key files copied but not all of them. AnonyMouse_705
I am sure I have read somewhere that tracing letters etc is not good practice, but mind has gone blank, can anybody point me in the direction of where information might be on this. Guest
I don't have anything to back anything up but my personal opinion is that tracing has it's place but should not be used as the main way to learn to write letters as it doesn't always help the child form them correctly. I tend to use tracing when working with a child to help them see what it looks but would never leave them on their own. I think at 2 years 9 months there are much more beneficial handwriting activities they could be doing though. Marion made a great list on this post Sorry i couldn't be of more help. AnonyMouse_705
Many thanks to your reply and for directing me to Marion's recent post. This was some of the information I was looking for, I seemed to remember I had this on my laptop having saved it from a previous post by Marion if I remember correctly.
