I'm sure many of us have hears of Ben 10 - just don't understand what it's all about :o As far as I can make out anyway, Ben has a magic watch called an Omnitrix which has a number of alter egos on, according to the problem he has to face, he chooses which one on his watch will help best and becomes that "thing". I don't know about writing, we are pre-school, but our boys have made the omnitrix watches from cut down pieces of kitchen roll and we photocopied the face of the watch which they coloured and stuck to the kitchen roll, or they stuck down plastic bottle tops to the kitchen roll. If you do a forum search on super heroes, I'm sure you will find other ideas you could easily adapt for your use of Ben 10.

Thanks for that explanation Panders! I print off several 'letter heads' with pictures of children's favourite characters on and Ben 10 is one of the most popular. Love your idea about making an Omnitrix!

With regard to writing, how about making their own Ben 10 cartoon strip, or making a set of Top Trumps cards for each character - they could write in their unique skills and characteristics.

We have lots of boys in my setting that are obsessed with Ben 10, there is a set of ben 10 numbers on the TES connect website that you can cut out laminate and play snap with - that is what I am planning to do with them or use them as a number hunt. I will see if I can find the link and post it here. As already mentioned 'power bands' and watches are good, I think there is already a thread on here about it but it might be under superheroes. :o

Hello,

My boys are obsessed with Ben10 too.

I have a "Ben10 writing den" in my classroom, which is a pop up Ben 10 tent, and in it I have a Ben 10 blanket, walkie talkies, pencils and pens.

I have recently made some Ben10 paper to go in the den (on clipboards) and the boys love to draw their own aliens and some have began to write from this.

It gets a lot of descriptive language too!

I did a Ben10 topic last term and I have to say that I won't be doing it again. We planned some good things but the boys just wanted to play the same chasing and fighting games no matter what we tried to throw at them. The Programme is absoloutely diabolical too, completely uninspiring and badly put together.

Anyway enough of my hatred ramblings of Ben10. We made a Ben10 SOS Den where they had to record problems and then go and rescue people, Made omnitrix watches, made Den's for Ben10 to hide, painted our own aliens and then applied phonics by writing made up language captions. We tried to focus more on the alien side of things as the Ben10 element was.....well crap....for want of a better word.

Good luck.
