Help! I Need Some Lyrics For Christmas Songs To The Tunes Of Nurs

Guest

Recommended Posts

Our village pre-school uses these words to 'here we go round the mulberry bush' for their nativity.

Here we go up to Bethlehem, Bethlehem, Bethelehem.

Here we go up to Bethlehem on a cold and frosty morning.

Then they change it to

Jesus was born in Bethlehem.....

Shepherds came to Bethlehem.....

Three Kings came to Bethlehem.....

I'm not sure that the cold and frosty morning bit works considering the location but you could always change that.

To the tune of London Bridge is falling down

See the star up in the sky

in the sky, in the sky,

See the star up in the sky

It leads to baby Jesus

Wise men travelled from afar,

from afar, from afar,

Wise men travelled from afar,

to see the baby Jesus

Shepherds came and worshipped him

worshipped him, worshipped him

Shepherds came and worshipped him

at the feet of Jesus

we are using song for wheels on the bus and change lyrics to

The reindeers on the roofs, they stamp their hooves

all night long...

The presents under the tree are all wrapped up

The children in their beds go giggle, giggle, giggle

The lights on the tree flash on and off

actions are realy easy to do as well and the children love it

After posting something a few weeks back asking for nativity words to Twinkle Twinkle - have come up with a mis-mash of them all which we feel are easier and tells the story pretty well.

Twinkle, twinkle little star

Twinkle, twinkle little star

How I wonder what you are?

God sent you to show the way

To the place where Jesus lay

Twinkle twinkle little star

How I wonder what you are?

In a stable He was born

on that special Christmas morn

Angels came to visit him

Baby Jesus, new-born king

In a stable He was born

on that special Christmas morn

Angels let the shepherds know

Why your light was shining so

They were guided by the light

in the darkness of the night

Angels let the shepherds know

Why your light was shining so

Then you guided the three kings

They bought Jesus special things

Myrrh and frankincense and gold

For the baby boy to hold

Then you guided the three kings

They bought Jesus special things

Twinkle twinkle little star

shining brightly from afar

up above the cattle stall

bringing good news to us all

Twinkle twinkle little star

shine for ever where we are

Some of these I've made up, some have come via other sources, but we have used before.

tune of here we go round the mulberry bush

Here we go down to Bethlehem, Bethlehem, Bethlehem

Here we go down to Bethlehem on a cold and frosty morning.

We’re hurrying down to Bethlehem, Bethlehem, Bethlehem

We’re hurrying down to Bethlehem on a cold and frosty morning.

tune of 5 little devils all dressed in red

5 little angels all dressed in white

Looking up to see the star that shone out so bright

But the star gave a twinkle, in the night sky

And one little angel decided to fly.

4 little angels, etc …….

tune of 3 blind mice

Three wise men, three wise men,

Following the star, following the star.

They rode their camels all day and night

They followed the star that shone so bright

They never let it out of their sight

The three wise men, the three wise men.

when the angel comes to tell Mary the news that she will have a baby:

tune of London Bridge

I have come with special news

Special news, special news

I have come with special news,

My fair lady

You will have a baby boy,

Baby boy, baby boy

You will have a baby boy

My fair lady

He will be a special King

Special king, special king

He will be a special king

My fair lady.

an old topic but still a good one - so just wanted to thank all who contributed as I have just used many of the songs to write our Nativity for this year.

Here are some of the songs we used last year...

tune of I'm a little teapot

I'm a little angel dressed in white

here's my halo shining bright

I have got a message just for you

You will have a special baby soon.

Tune = Mulberry Bush

Mary and Joseph knocked at the door,

knocked at the door, knocked at the door,

Mary and Joseph knocked at the door,

On this cold and frosty evening.

The Innkeeper said, "we've got no room"...

You'll have to sleep in the stable tonight...

Twinkle Twinkle Christmas Star

A bright star shone from afar

It gave out a special glow

And told them where they had to go

Twinkle Twinkle Christmas Star

A bright star shone from afar

Tune= The ants went marching (?)

The shepherds followed the stars bright light

Ta da, Ta da

The shepherds followed the stars bright light

Ta da, Ta da

They all went marching, following the star

To find the baby born in the barn,

They all went marching following the star.

The kings followed the stars bright light ...

Down in the Stable (sung to down in the jungle)

Down in the stable one starry night ('twinkle' fingers)

Three tired Kings (show 3 fingers and/or put head on hands as if sleeping)

Followed a light (point to a designated corner)

There was Mary (hold out one hand to side)

There was Joseph (hold out other hand)

And a manger full of hay (bring hands together and move apart)

Everyone was there on that first Christmas Day

Chorus:

Aha (click or point to right)

Aha (click or point to left)

Boogie woogie woogie (do roly poly hands forward and back)

(Repeat three times)

Everyone was there on that first Christmas Day

There may be more verses but we've only every done this one!

Hickory Dickory Deep,

The shepherds were watching their sheep (hand to forehead as if shielding eyes)

An angel came down (wings)

And sent them to town (point to designated place)

Hickory Dickory Deep

Here are some we're doing...

(To frère Jacques)

Father Christmas Father Christmas

he got stuck he got stuck

coming down the chimney, coming down the chimney

what bad luck

what bad luck

Christmas pudding, Christmas pudding.

Steaming hot, steaming hot.

Sprinkle it with sugar, sprinkle it with sugar,

Eat the lot, eat the lot.

Tune grand old duke of York

when the robots came to dinner

They came on Christmas Day

They didnt like the turkey

so they threw it all away

They ate up all the knives and forks

and then they asked for more

Ive never had a Christmas day

quite like that before!

I love all those, how inspiring!

One our children love is:

When Santa got stuck up the chimney,

he began to shout:

'You girls and boys

won't get any toys

if you don't pull me out!

My beard is black,

there's soot in my sack,

my nose is tickely, too.'

When Santa got stuck up the chimney.

Achoo, achoo, achoo!

sorry, don't know where melody is from, but you could just make it up...

(To the tune of Horsey, Horsey)

Rudolph, Rudolph, Don't you stop!

Just let your feet go clippety clop

Your nose is red and your eyes are round,

Giddy up, we're Christmas bound!

(To the tune of BINGO)

I know a man with a long white beard

And Santa is his name-o

S...A...N...T...A

S...A...N...T...A

S...A...N...T...A

And Santa is his name-o

(To the tune of Humpty Dumpty)

Father Christmas sits on his sleigh

Father Christmas is on his way

With all of his reindeer

And all of his elves

To give all of the presents to good boys and girls.
